Who Can Apply for the Skilled Nominated Visa?
You can apply if you:
- Have a skilled occupation listed on the eligible occupations list
- Are under 45 years old when invited to apply
- Pass a skills assessment by a relevant assessing authority for your occupation
- Score at least 65 points on the points test (more points improve your chances)
- Meet English language requirements
- Meet health and character standards set by the Australian government
- Lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI) and ROI (for some states it is needed) and receive a pre-invite from the State Authority. After fulfilling the relevant requirements, you will receive and invitation in SkillSelect.
Visa Duration and Residency
- This is a permanent visa, allowing you to stay in Australia indefinitely
- Your permanent residency starts on the day your visa is granted if you apply from inside Australia
- If applying from outside Australia, you must enter Australia on this visa after it’s granted
