What You Can Do with the Subclass 190 Visa

Who Can Apply for the Skilled Nominated Visa?

You can apply if you:

  • Have a skilled occupation listed on the eligible occupations list
  • Are under 45 years old when invited to apply
  • Pass a skills assessment by a relevant assessing authority for your occupation
  • Score at least 65 points on the points test (more points improve your chances)
  • Meet English language requirements
  • Meet health and character standards set by the Australian government
  • Lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI) and ROI (for some states it is needed) and receive a pre-invite from the State Authority. After fulfilling the relevant requirements, you will receive and invitation in SkillSelect.

Visa Duration and Residency

  • This is a permanent visa, allowing you to stay in Australia indefinitely
  • Your permanent residency starts on the day your visa is granted if you apply from inside Australia
  • If applying from outside Australia, you must enter Australia on this visa after it’s granted

Including Your Family in the Application

  • You can include your partner and dependent children in your visa application
  • Family members must be added when you lodge your application or before the visa decision is made
  • All family members must meet health and character requirements set by the Australian government
  • Even family members not migrating to Australia may need to meet these requirements

Where Can You Apply From?

  • You can apply from inside or outside Australia
  • If applying in Australia, you must hold a valid substantive visa or Bridging Visa A (Subclass 010), B (Subclass 020), or C (Subclass 030)
  • Applications from other visa holders may be invalid
